    Ready to laugh, learn, and unleash your creativity? This six-week Level 1 Short-Form Improv Comedy class is the perfect introduction to the art of improvisation. Whether you’re looking to build confidence, sharpen your wit, or just have a blast, this class is designed for everyone—no experience necessary.

    Through fun and interactive games and exercises, you’ll learn the core principles of improv: embracing "yes, and," active listening and building upon the ideas of others. Our experienced instructors will guide you step-by-step, helping you develop the skills to play in the moment.

    Each week focuses on a different aspect of short-form improv, including:

    • Building trust and support and experiencing "group mind"

    • Spontaneity, creativity and confidence

    • Embracing a philosophy of “there are no mistakes in improv”

    At the end of the course there will be opportunities to perform on the Flipside stage. Come laugh, learn, and make connections that last far beyond the class.

    Intro to Stand-Up with Christie Buchele. Six weeks. Designed for beginners or those looking to pick up the mic again. In this class you'll be guided through both the process of joke writing structure and how to deliver your content to hit on laughter. Simple assignments are geared to inspire your natural flow of generating your own unique content to find your voice. In-classroom time also prioritizes a safe and collaborative atmosphere for fun and supportive feedback alongside your peers. The class culminates in an optional student showcase to be held on 2/20 at 7:30pm where students will enjoy performing their 5-7 minute sets!

    You’ve discovered how fun it can be to spot patterns and build energy through heightening—now take your scenes deeper by exploring the core of long-form improv: relationships. This class centers on creating grounded, dynamic connections between characters. You’ll practice listening with intent, making bold emotional choices, and uncovering the comedy that comes naturally when relationships feel specific and alive.

    Through scene work, group exercises, and side coaching, you’ll learn how to sustain moments that are both playful and meaningful. Whether in a two-person scene or weaving connections across an ensemble piece, this class gives you tools to anchor the comedy in something real—so that patterns and heightening can shine even brighter.
